Chegg, an easy way to buy, sell or rent textbooks, is offering a $1,000 scholarship worth in textbooks to four applicants who can answer the question “What are the 3 things you like the most about your new college?” in 500 characters or less. This scholarship is in partnership with Zinch.com which is a great place to locate and apply for easy scholarships for college. According to a Washington Post article, textbooks cost students around $700-$1,100 annually and, in many cases, they’re only used once for a particular class. We all know that tuition and fees are on the rise, but the price of textbooks has also been soaring upward as well. It’s been such an issue that lawmakers have had to jump in to enforce transparency when it comes to the cost of textbooks.

Application

The application process for this textbook scholarship is pretty straightforward. Simply write the 500 word essay answering the question on what 3 things you like about your new school, provide a few basic personal details so that you can be contacted if selected (winners will also be featured on the blog) and submit your entry before the deadline, August 31 2012. That should give you enough time to pump out a decent essay worthy of $1,000 textbook scholarship. To be eligible, you must be an incoming college freshmen enrolled at an accredited college or university for the 2012 academic school year. That pretty much sums it up.
