Zinch is offering a pretty generous $20,000 scholarship to students with outstanding engagement with the site. Essentially, the main objective of this scholarship is the quality of your Zinch profile. The more you’re engaged with your profile (completion, endorsements, uploaded media, etc) the higher your chances of winning. This is their most lucrative, longest-running scholarship that runs throughout the year. They break the scholarship down to 4 quarters in the year (starting in January, April, July, and October). And in each quarter, 100 finalist will be selected; ten from each category listed below:
- Engineering
- Life Sciences
- Computers & Technology
- Performing Arts
- Digital Media & Design
- Social Media & Communication
- Student Athlete
- Community Service
- Business & Entrepreneurship
- Leadership & Government
One Quarterly Category Super Student (one out of the ten from each category) will be chosen in each quarter to receive a $250 Chegg book scholarship prize. At the end of the year, there will be a total of 40 Quarterly Category Super Students. These students will have their profiles reviewed by a panel of judges to determine the Grand Prize winner ($20,000 scholarship). Additionally, three honorable mentions will be chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship. In total (including the 40 $250 book scholarships) Zinch will award $33,000 in prizes to students with the best profiles. This is definitely an advantageous program to be involved with so signing up is a no-brainer. The deadline is January 15 2013 .
Application Process
The application is real simple. Just complete it by filling out pertinent information that they can use to match you with scholarships and colleges. After that, it’s important you keep updating your Zinch profile and ensuring that it’s complete and pristine to have the best chances of winning the scholarship. That includes listing all your experiences, any volunteer work, specialities & skills and anything that you feel will help you win the top prize. There’s also a place where you can place recommendations or references from people you’ve worked with, co-workers, teachers or anyone who can vouch for your work ethic and potential. To be eligible, you must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be planning to enroll in a post-secondary institution. This program also goes by the name Sweet Diggity Dawg Contest and is their most prestigious and rewarding scholarship.
