CollegeXpress’ $10,000 Scholarship

CollegeXpress , a scholarship and college matchmaking site from Carnegie Communications, has a quick and easy scholarship sweepstakes worth $10,000 to eligible students attending one of their member schools. The contest starts in June and ends in May of each year and only requires a simple registration to the site (takes 3 mins and 11 secs their count). You can register online or by filling out a response card located in one of Carnegie Communication’s magazines. They’re also offering a bonus ‘Refer a Friend’ آ scholarship each monthآ worth $500 to those who can refer the most people to the application by various means (social media, blog, email, etc). Although not as popular or well-known as Fastweb or CollegeProwler, this site has been around since 1995 and pretty much performs some of the same services to help students find financial aid and colleges. With the difficulty of findingآ the rightآ college orآ searching forآ a ton of scholarships, we can use all the help we can get, right?

Application Process

If you’re a college student or are planning to enroll, the first thing you need to do is make sure you’re going to be attending a member college before signing up for the site. Other than that, creating a profile for CollegeXpress is real simple and will enter you for a chance to win some nice cash. Also, if you’ve been in the college searching process or are already enrolled, no doubt you’ve signed-up to many college/scholarship search engine sites which offer the same type of incentive programs just for signing up. However, if you haven’t won anything yet, don’t give up! The only way you will be able to win anything is by signing-up for more programs (of course!). You can find a list of 50 college and scholarship matchmaking sites and apply to those who offer scholarship sweepstakes to increase your chances of winning aid. The scholarship drawing for this program will be conducted in May with the funds sent to the academic institution of which the student is enrolled.

Campus Discovery’s $2,500 ‘Advice to Your High School Self’ Scholarship

CampusDiscovery.com has a neat $2,500 easy scholarship for college students and recent grads that have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from a 2 or 4 year college or university. CampusDiscovery is a college and scholarship searching site that aims to make the college process easier (the college searching service WiseChoice is their parent company). They offer this scholarship to anyone who completes their interactive scholarship survey and gives the best response to the question “Assume you could go back in time and talk to yourself as a high school senior. Knowing what you know now about college life and making the transition, what advice would you give yourself?” in 200 words or less. Sort of a reflective essay question that should help bring toآ mindآ many of the ups and downs you’ve experienced as an undergrad.آ The deadline is July 31 .

Application Process

This scholarship had been open since February of this year so students have had ample time to send in their entries. The application is simple and straightforward and can be completed entirely online. If you haven’t signed up to CampusDiscovery, that’ll be the first thing you’llآ need to do. They encourage applicants to submit essays that are creative and well-written so as to stand-out from among the crowd. The judges will base the winning essay on writing ability (25%), wisdom (25%), originality (25%), and overall excellence (25%). Only one scholarship will be given out this year when the panel of judges chooses an entry on October 1.
