In honor of mother’s day, I decided to post a few easy scholarships for mothers that can help pay for college. Tuition is costly yet there are plenty of organizations and foundations out there to help assist women needing financial aid to return to college. If you are a single parent who could use help, you should head to Benefits.gov to see exactly which government benefits you’re eligible for. Jeannette Rankin Women’s Scholarship Fund
Jeannette Rankin was the first woman elected in the United States Congress in 1916. The foundation honors that legacy by offering easyВ scholarshipsВ for women 35 years or older coming from low-income households. They desire to assist women interested in furthering their education but are financially unable to do so on their own. Be able to identify your goals and aspirations and how you plan on achieving them as well as challenges you may have faced. The application process begins in November and ends in March with winners being notified in July. This scholarship helps with books, childcare, living expenses, transportation and more.
Linda Lael Miller Scholarship
New York Times bestselling author and motivational speaker, Linda Lael Miller, offers a easy scholarship to women 25 and older who write a 500 word essay on why they need a scholarship, how much they feel would help them achieve their goals and how education will improve their family’s situation. In the past, this scholarship has helped those who have faced adversity of some kind (domestic violence, poverty, illnesses), were interested in adding skills to improve career qualifications, or have other unique issues that extra funds for education could help diminish. The scholarship program has awarded $75,000 to women since 2001; this year $10,000 dollars total will be awarded to selected individuals.
ANTSHE Scholarships
The Association for Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE) offers scholarships to those interested in attending college. A non-traditional student can be someone who has dependents (e.g. mothers), works full-time, is a single parent, is financially independent (parents aren’t paying for school), has decided to enroll in college a little later than normal (takes at least a year off after graduation) or hasn’t received a high school diploma. They provide three annual scholarships with applications being accepted in June. If you’re a mom then be sure to grab your scholarship!

Since education is critical to increasing the amount you can earn, going back can literally be a life changing event. Whether you want to advance up the corporate ladder, learn more about your passions (literature, art, music, etc) or help your family out financially, going back to school is almost always the right choice. Improving your quality of life and setting an example for future generations are other great reasons for pursuing an education.
