Taking Chartered Accountant Courses
Many have heard of the difficulties associated with taking Chartered Accountant Courses. They put you through rigorous study in an effort to produce the best possible accountant. It all can be very demanding, but if you’re dedicated and have a suitable work ethic, it’s achievable. Learn about what exactly goes into Chartered Accountant Courses and what you can expect from each level.
There’s a huge demand for chartered accountants in India. The reasons as to why students aren’t enrolling in chartered accountant courses may vary for each individual, but the fact that these courses are stringent and the job itself meticulous and demanding can’t be too far off the list. In addition to the rigorous study potential Chartered Accountants must undertake, the history of abuse spanning back several years within the articleship portion of training doesn’t bode well for attracting students. Reports of either delayed or no payments at all to articles and also being pressured into doing more than is required are a few of the reasons the institute began enacting rules and regulations so work conditions were suitable for aspiring CAs; allowing them to receive the experience they needed with on-the-job training. Despite all the bad press, if you’re still interested in becoming a CA then you might want to learn about what goes into the training.
Chartered Accountant Courses
The first level of Chartered Accountancy examinations is the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). The initial test is to determine whether or not you’re qualified to enter into the program. You should register with the Board of Studies and after a 60 day period appear for the CPT and the 10+2 Examination. It’s best to register no later than either April 1st or October 1st so you can be eligible to appear (after your 60 day period) for the examination which is held in June and December. After you’ve passed the 10+2 and CPT, you’re ready for Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) to become a Chartered Accountant.
Integrated Professional Competence Course
After you’ve completed nine months of study, you’ll enter into the IPCC which consists of two groups with seven subjects. You can enroll in either Group I or Group II or both. Here you learn valuable principles like communication skills, office procedure, Information Technology Training, business knowledge and general commercial knowledge. Once you’ve passed examinations from both Groups then you’re ready to register as an Articled Assistant for three years.
Final Examinations
After completing IPCC, you should register and study for the Final Examinations so you can become a certified Chartered Accountant. This is the last and final step before starting your new career. You may begin this period when you have only 12 months of articleship left. You’ll also be required to take a General Management and Communication Skills course lasting for 15 days to further help you in your training. After you’ve passed the Final examination you can now become a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and serve as a Chartered Accountant.
