Great news from foreclosure.com! And it has nothing to do with the house you’re living in and everything to do with financial aid! They’re opening their annual Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program to current college students (graduate students, law students and/or high school seniors aren’t eligible) who can best answer the essay question “What creative solutions, programs, and/or initiatives to stimulate the United States housing market, as well as to turn the foreclosure tide, must a presidential candidate outline/promise to earn your vote?” It is an election year and no doubt you’ve seen the presidential race heat up as November 2 comes around. So if you have an opinion about the housing market, this scholarship should be right up your alley! The deadline for this program is December 1.

Application Process

The scholarship application can be completed entirely online. When writing your response to the essay question, be sure that you use correct grammar, the spelling is top-notch and that your essay is between 800 and 2,000 words. If desired, you can even create your very own stimulus plan that builds upon one of the candidate’s platforms, a widely held position or is uniquely yours. In January of next year, the judges will choose five college students as potential winners. Their essays will be judged on the basis of originality (25 percent), creativity (25 percent), writing ability (25 percent) and overall excellence (25 percent). The top performing essay will receive the grand prize of $5,000 with four runner-ups earning $1,000. Be sure to send any queries regarding the essay topic to .

Of course, if you’re a college student looking for a scholarship, then this information has no value to you as of yet, but eventually you’re going to want to buy a house, right?
