The BG Scholarship is a memorial program worth $300 to eligible high school/college students who have maintained at least a 2.0/4.0 GPA and adults wishing to go back to school. The restrictions for this program are minimal, all they require is that you be a US citizen or an international student enrolled at a post-secondary institution in the United States. The scholarship is in honor of Brandon Goodman, a passionate man with exceptional creative talent, who was lost while surfing a wave off of Oahu beach in Hawaii. He was into poetry, painting, sketching and composing and was also quite adventurous while living in Thailand. The BG Scholarship is a generous way to honor his life.
Application Process
Entering this program is real easy. You must give your reason via the online application form of why you feel you deserve to be awarded the scholarship in 250 words or less. Keep in mind that spelling and grammar are important criteria in the selection process. And although the $300 award is a tad diminutive compared with other programs, it’s a monthly scholarship that announces a new winner on the 15th of every month. Once a winner is determined, they’ll deposit the funds directly into the student’s school account. Another cool thing about this program is that you’re encouraged to apply every month until you win. When writing your essay, since this scholarship is both need and merit-based, you’ll need to provide a compelling response that relates to any financial obstacles you’ve had to endure and/or how you’ve made a positive difference in your community. Also, if you do happen to win, you can re-apply for this program after a year has passed.
