N utrition scholarships are for people who want to work in the nutrition industry once they graduate. While graduates in nutrition can follow a career in this domain, they can also go into additional domains that are related to it. In this way, you can become a nutritionist, but you can also become a dietetic consultant or a food scientist. The following scholarships could be really helpful in your career path:
W. Price Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is offered to students who are passionate about the food industry. The Texas Restaurant Association is making the nominations. W. Price. Jr. was the primary executive director from 1953 to 1974. There are a total of four scholarships available.
The first two have a value of 5,000 dollars each. They are meant for students who follow four of years studies at a university, but also for those who follow a culinary college. The other two scholarships are of 2,000 dollars each and they are given to students who follow college studies of two years.
In order to be eligible, you need to be a Texas state resident and to be part of a hospitality program or a food service degree. You must also be a full-time student with at least three hours of food service in a semester. The applications must be submitted until February 1st . You need an overall GPA of 2.75 and a major one of 3.5.
Red Gold Internship Scholarship
If you are a Food Science student in your sophomore year, this scholarship is for you. Students who you win will get a 1,500 dollars award. If you do win you will need to go through a full summer internship in the time between the sophomore year and the junior year. In order to be eligible, you need to be a resident of the Indiana state. It would be best to be a high school graduate in counties like Grant, Tipton, Madison, Allen, Adams, Jay, Delaware, Hamilton, Marion or Carroll. One scholarship is awarded every year by Red Gold and the deadline is February 1 .
The Maple Leaf Farm Awards
Maple Leaf Farm runs a recipe contest for professional chefs and students annually that can help offset the cost of college expenses. In the student contest you can win up to $2,500 plus $1,000 of duck products for you school. To enter you must be enrolled in a culinary school. The deadline is June 6 .
Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship Fund
For applying to this scholarship, you have to be a citizen of the United States, a graduating senior of a public school in Washington (only in the counties of King, Snohomish and Pierce) and to have the prospect of becoming a full time student in Washington. For each candidate, the high school from where the candidate comes can make the yearly nominations. March 1st is the limit date for applicants. The maximum sum of money that is offered is of 2,000 dollars. Depending on the available funds, there are up to thirty awards given every year.
