All you need to do is compose a 300-500 word post about a TV show or movie you feel has impacted society and why. After you’ve written your article, simply copy and paste the code found on US Dish’s scholarship page on your website or blog and enter your name, email and URL to apply. This is a low GPA scholarship eligible to those who maintain at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The deadline for this scholarship is on the first of July with winners being announced on July 25.

The Blogging Scholarship

From a popular destination for scholarship info comes a sizable $10,000 annual scholarship to full-time college students who blog. CollegeScholarships.org recommends students blog because you can make a decent living off of it and, like I said earlier, is a great way to hone your writing skills. You can run a free blog from WordPress, Blogger or LiveJournal and just start writing about things that interest you. For this scholarship, they require a 1,000 word essay answering questions like “how have you used blogging to help yourself or others?”, “what is the most powerful social change you have seen come out of blogging?” and “why did you start blogging?”. Pretty straight forward. They post winners on their website with links to their winning blogs which should help with inspiration.

America’s Best Blogging Scholarship

America rules doesn’t it? This blogging scholarship comes from YourLocalSecurity.com, a home security retail site, and provides a $1,000 scholarship to whichever student gives the best response on their blog to the given question. It’s open to all students who hold at least a 2.5/4.0 GPA and are either college-bound or current students at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. This is a semi-annual scholarship with Fall (Dec 31) and Spring (June 30) deadlines. Judging is based on thoughtfulness, creativity and insight and the post needs to have at least 300 words. The funds should help pay for tuition, books, fees and on-campus room and board. Again, America is just awesome!
